Quotes for small print shops
SignQuote started as a quoting tool for sign shops. A lot of shops print both, so it now prices paper too: business cards, flyers, postcards, brochures and the rest, worked out by the press sheet from your own costs. The paper side is new, so if something's missing, tell me and I'll look at it.
How it prices a paper job
- Pieces per sheet It lays the piece out on your press sheet with its bleed, tries it both ways round, and keeps clear of the edge your press can't print.
- Press sheets The run, plus your setup sheets and spoilage, so the paper and the clicks both pay for the overs.
- Paper and clicks Paper by the press sheet and a click for each side, from your price book. One tick makes a job two-sided, and the quote says so.
- Labor Setup, cutting, scoring and folding at your own rates, with a minimum charge per job.
- Bigger runs The quote can show what 1,000 or 2,500 would cost under the job, so a customer can ask for more without waiting on a second quote.
- Your margin Cost and margin on every line, with a warning under your floor. They never print.
Jobs it starts with
Business cards, flyers, postcards, tri-fold brochures, rack cards, door hangers, letterhead and envelopes. Posters and banners use the sign jobs. Change any of them, or save your own.
After the quote
- A PDF with your name on it Your logo and details, plain black type.
- Approval online The customer gets a link with the PDF. They can tick extras like rush, ask for a change, or approve and pay your deposit through your own payment link.
- Every quote chased A list of quotes that have gone quiet, with a follow-up email ready to send.
What it doesn't do yet
Booklets and carbonless forms aren't in yet. It doesn't do job tickets, invoicing, a web-to-print store or mailing either. If you need all of that in one place, a full print management system will suit you better than this.
